Ohio Buckwheat Honey

100% Raw, Natural, Buckwheat Honey, available in glass or plastic. This honey is from Ohio, nothing is added as it gets its flavor from the bees during pollination of their respective plants.

This buckwheat honey is coming from a 400 acres field of organically grown buckwheat for seed that is sold to Japan to be made into noodles.  It is a pure as you can get!  It has a wonderful, earthy, molasses flavor with hints of malt and earth. It can also have a musky, clay-like, nutty, or chocolatey taste, and some say it has a little bit of spice. This is a DARK Buckwheat honey – sometimes it can be a lighter color.

Recently, scientists have started testing and comparing other types of honey, specifically Buckwheat Honey which is also dark and high in antioxidants.  Researchers at Brock University showed that buckwheat honey had strong antibacterial effects against antibiotic-resistance bacterial.

In a separate study comparing Buckwheat Honey with Manuka, scientist found that Buckwheat honey had greater antioxidant activity than Manuka, and exhibited equivalent antibacterial activity against the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
