2026 Nuc –  Below are the pickup dates for 2026 – if you can not make those dates, you can arrange for another pickup date – send us an email. Please call or email to arrange pickup.  We are almost sold out for 2026 PICKUP ONLY- NO SHIPPING – Pickup will be confirmed but will most likely be around May 10th to May 20th, depending on weather.  We will confirm exact pickups as we get closer. 2026 Nuc – 5 Frames with bees and queen – $25 deposit (not refundable) and $240 CASH at pickup (if you use credit card at pickup it is $250) OR pay $275 online with credit card ($25 is not refundable). 2026- Nuc’s are raised by us here in Northern IL.  No stress on the bees traveling from California/ Georgia, etc.   Queens are marked and nuc’s are treated for mites.  They come in a Pro-Nuc box, so if you need a few days to install – just open them up and they will be just fine.  Each nuc will contain about 3 frames of brood and about 2 frames of honey/pollen.  Please pick you queen choice when ordering.  We have Italian, Carniolan and Buckfast queens. Some general info on the different queens – we encourage you to do your own research on the queens before picking one. Italian Queens are very gentle and a good choice for beginners and experienced beekeepers.  By far the most popular queen and tends not to swarm in the 1st year. Carniolan Queens – are a darker color, tend to be slow getting going in the spring but catchup very fast.  Can swarm more in the 1st year than Italians and tend to me a bit more aggressive than Italian’s.  They tend to produce more honey. Buckfast Queens -Tend to swam the least, hardy bees for overwintering and good honey producers.  The second generation queens (if they re-queen themselves), tend to be very aggressive.  It is recommend that hives be re-queened each year to reduce the issue of aggressive bees.  Generally don’t recommend for beginning beekeepers. We do have transport mess bags available to use at no charge, $20 deposit will be returned when we receive the mess bag back in good condition OR you can purchase for $15.
